Falls are a major cause of injury for older people. Each year 1/3 of people aged 65 years and over have one or more falls. Falls can cause hip and wrist fractures, dislocations, bruise and head injuries. Even falls that don’t result in a physical injury can often lead to a fear of falling or loss of self-confidence.
The good news is that falls can be prevented with some simple strategies.
On Tues 26th August, Snowy Mountains Physiotherapy held a FREE Falls Prevention workshop at our new Jindabyne clinic. Physiotherapist, Lara Hansford spoke to Residents of the Snowy River Shire about how they can reduce the risk of falls. All enjoyed participating in some simple exerises for strength and balance.
